As Seen on Xtreme 4x4 - This adapter allows adaptation of a GM automatic Turbo 350, 400, 700R4(early 4L60E with a one piece case) or 4L80E overdrive transmission to an IH International Harvester 266, 304, 345, or 392 V8 engine.

Includes adapter plate, torque converter adapter, and installation hardware. You will need a 727 automatic flex plate, crank spacer, and bolts that are found in a 72-80 Scout II and 72-75 Pickup/Travelall for installation of this adapter.

For 700R4 we suggest to use a truck version of the 700R4. You will need to custom fabricate a flywheel cover or a cover kit can be purchased separately. Transfer case will also need to be swapped to a GM unit or an additional adapter to go from the GM 700R4 to Dana 20 will be required if used in a 4X4 application such as in a Scout. We can also supply you with any transfer case adapter that you might need for this conversion. For those wanting to install in a pick-up or Travelall custom transmission mounts and rear engine mount will need to be fabricated. Please email or call if you have any questions regarding this kit.

4L80E transmissions use 3 of the 6 torque converter bolts like the older Turbo 400's.

MADE IN THE USA.

I installed this kit with little issue, only issue I ran against was the stock starter drive nose cone had to be ground on to fit. I would buy this kit again, great setup, I used a small block chevy midplate to make rear engine side mounts in my 65 pickup. worked like a charm. Thanks for offering a great upgrade.

I installed a 4l80e in my 1962 C130 4X4. Great kit. Simple installation. Love the 4l80e behind the 392 V8.

Just what I needed!

Q: I have a 73 Travelall 1210 4x4 with an IC 392 and 727. Can this adapter work with a 700R4 in my drive train? Will there be a compatibility issue working with a divorced NP 205 transfer case? Are there solutions for the the Travelall's linkage?
A: The adapter kit will work. Custom mounts will need to be fabricated.
Q: Now, the bolt pattern is same on a 152 from engine to bell housing as the v-8's so could this be used for conversion to GM automatic on the 4 cylinder as well?
A: No
