Q: I am working on a 1977 International Scout 2 for a friend. It is a V8 and has an electronic ignition with the control box mounted on the firewall. Inasmuch as the current ignition system is not creating a spark even though there is power to the coil and no obvious electrical issues, I would like to upgrade the system to something more serviceable, but I am unsure how to determine which system is currently installed in the vehicle? In upgrading to the systems that you sell, does the distributor need to be replaced or removed? Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide regarding this matter.
